The MCM Black Sea naval group opened its thirteenth activation with a ceremony in Varna on 7 November, the Bulgarian Navy said. Captain Petar Dimitrov declared the activation open. [1]
The group includes Bulgaria’s support vessel Dimitar Dobrev and minehunter Struma, Romania’s minehunter Constantin Dumitrescu and Turkey’s minehunter Akçay. The ships are also scheduled to join the Bulgarian–Romanian Poseidon 2026 mine-countermeasures exercise. The announcement records the group’s activation and planned exercise participation, rather than a new mine discovery. [1]
Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey agreed to deepen information sharing, early warning and naval coordination after a series of drone attacks on commercial ships.
