Bulgaria’s economy expanded by 0.7% quarter on quarter and 2.8% year on year in the second quarter, preliminary National Statistical Institute data released on 7 September showed. Both readings were 0.1 percentage point above the earlier flash estimates. [1] [2]

ContextDomestic consumption rose 0.9% from the previous quarter, but gross fixed capital formation fell 1.2% and exports dropped 5.2%. The reading is a statistical snapshot rather than a new economic event; it shows continued growth alongside weaker quarterly investment and trade flows. [2]
