Moldova’s parliamentary security committee questioned state agencies behind closed doors on 4 November over a cyberattack that chairman Lilian Carp dated to 19–23 October. A criminal case has been opened, according to the Parliament’s account of the hearing. [1]
Carp said an audit must establish how many citizens’ data were accessed and asked why institutions had failed to react to unusually heavy database activity. He said investigators had identified overseas IP addresses but still needed to determine who bought them and organised the attack. Their location does not establish responsibility by a foreign government. [1]
The emergency takes effect on 26 September as drought cuts Dniester and Prut flows and imported energy costs rise; officials said the measure is preventive.
