Romanian developer Renovatio Group and Portugal-based Greenvolt Group are developing a 918 MWh battery energy storage system at Borzești in Bacău County, Balkan Green Energy News reported on 21 September. The project company is jointly owned by Renovatio's RNV Infrastructure and Greenvolt Power. [1]
Renovatio Solar said it would serve as the integrated engineering, procurement and construction partner alongside Chinese battery producer CATL. The regional report said completion was expected within 12 months, while financial terms were not disclosed. [2] [1]
ContextThe developers say the facility would store surplus solar generation, provide rapid grid-balancing services and enable the integration of several hundred megawatts of renewable capacity. These are projected system benefits; the battery has not yet entered operation. [1]
