Romania confirms French maritime patrol aircraft deployment
A French Atlantique 2 is deployed in Constanța for Black Sea surveillance, Romania’s Defence Ministry said.
Romania’s Defence Ministry confirmed on 3 November that a French Navy Atlantique 2 aircraft is deployed in Constanța and participating in Black Sea maritime-surveillance missions in support of NATO’s eastern-flank posture.
The ministry said the aircraft supports maritime monitoring, identification and navigational safety. It announced a media visit for 5 November but did not disclose the aircraft’s arrival date, patrol tracks or an engagement with a hostile target. The event date here records the official confirmation.
Romanian fighters destroyed two attack drones that entered national airspace over the Black Sea, the first interception of the high-speed type cited by the defence minister. NATO ambassadors are due to discuss Black Sea defence.
