Serbia plans to begin laying the first five kilometres of a 145-kilometre gas interconnector with North Macedonia near Vranjska Banja. Acting Energy Minister Dubravka Đedović Handanović said pipe deliveries for 15 kilometres were expected by the end of October. [1]
The Serbian section is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2028, subject to land acquisition, while North Macedonia plans to finish its side by the end of that year. The link is intended to connect both systems more closely to the regional Vertical Gas Corridor and diversify supply routes. [2]
ContextRegional ministers are also considering a feasibility study to extend the Thessaloniki–Skopje oil-products pipeline toward Niš. That proposal remains under study and is not a completed investment decision. [2]
