Albania and the EU provisionally closed accession negotiations on enterprise and industrial policy, Chapter 20, at their tenth accession conference in Luxembourg on 13 October. [1]
Albania has opened all 33 screened negotiating chapters and has now provisionally closed four. The other three — science and research, education and culture, and external relations — were closed in July 2026. [1]
ContextThe agreement is a procedural accession milestone, not a final decision on EU membership. The Council said individual chapter agreements remain provisional until an overall settlement is reached and may be revisited if necessary. [1]
