Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Prosecutor’s Office said it indicted Catholic cleric Petar Barbarić over a speech delivered near an illegally erected monument in Čapljina on 2 November 2025. [1] [2]
Prosecutors allege that the speech was intended to glorify Slobodan Praljak, who was convicted by final international judgments of war crimes and crimes against humanity. They charged Barbarić under the Criminal Code provision concerning incitement of ethnic, racial and religious hatred, conflict and intolerance. [1]
ContextThe filing is an accusation, not a conviction. The Prosecutor’s Office explicitly noted that Barbarić is presumed innocent unless guilt is established by a final judgment. [1]
