Bulgarian authorities are investigating a renewed wave of emailed bomb threats sent to schools, kindergartens, courts and other public institutions. The Interior Ministry has recorded hundreds of such reports since June, and the latest messages included threats directed at senior officials. [1]

Police searches reported so far have found no explosive devices. Investigators said the messages were sent through compromised mailboxes and servers outside Bulgaria, but identifying the technical source does not establish who wrote or directed them. [2]

ContextThe campaign has forced evacuations and temporary closures while police apply procedures that treat each warning as potentially real. Authorities have not publicly attributed the threats to a state or organised group. [1] [2]
