Bulgaria’s government confirmed that Ukrainian presidential chief of staff Kyrylo Budanov met Prime Minister Rumen Radev in Sofia on 8 October. The visit took place at Ukraine’s request and was kept confidential for security reasons. [1]
The government said Budanov presented Kyiv’s view of possible routes toward a peaceful settlement of the war. Radev said he accepted the meeting as part of using diplomatic channels, without announcing an agreement or formal mediation process. [1] [2]
ContextAsked separately about the drone attacks on merchant ships in Bulgaria’s Black Sea economic zone, Radev said there were indications pointing toward one belligerent but no evidence sufficient for a definitive attribution. [2]
