Greece has agreed to spend up to $4 billion on additional F-16 upgrades and advanced US-made missiles and bombs, two senior Greek officials told Reuters on 8 October. [1]

The officials said the package includes weapons for F-16 Viper and F-35 fighters and Black Hawk helicopters, as well as conversion of older F-16s to the Viper standard. They said most items were already included in Greece’s multi-year defence plan and payments would be spread across several years. [1]

ContextThe agreement was reported by Reuters through unnamed senior defence and foreign-ministry sources; the cited report did not provide a public contract, delivery timetable or itemised values. Greece is separately acquiring 20 F-35s and 35 Black Hawks and is already upgrading 82 F-16s. [1]
