The defence ministry says a drone crossed Moldovan and Ukrainian airspace before an object crashed in Suceava County without casualties.
Romania's Defence Ministry said on 12 September that Ukrainian and Moldovan air-operations centres warned it of a drone heading towards northeastern Romania. Two Romanian F-16s took off, and authorities issued a RO-Alert in Botoșani County.
The ministry said a caller reported a drone over Știubieni and that Interior Ministry teams later found a crashed flying object in a cornfield near Botoșenița Mare, Suceava County. The impact caused a small fire and a shallow crater; no casualties were reported. An intelligence-service explosives team was sent to assess the object, so its precise type was not yet established in the release.
