Romania's Defence Ministry said on 29 September that debris from an object possibly belonging to a drone had been found on arable land in Insula Mare a Brăilei, near Gropeni in Brăila County. A citizen alerted authorities overnight after seeing an object fall and a fire that later went out. [1]
The ministry reported no casualties or material damage. Interior Ministry and Romanian Intelligence Service teams secured the perimeter, and defence specialists were due to inspect the fragments and the surrounding area. [1]
ContextThe object had not yet been identified as a drone, and the ministry said its radars had recorded no unauthorised entry into Romanian airspace during the previous night. The debris investigation therefore remains open, with no operator or origin established in the release. [1]
