Romania's Defence Ministry said radar detected an aerial target near the Ukrainian border on 24 September and that it entered Romanian airspace through northern Botoșani County. Two Romanian F-16s scrambled, and authorities issued alerts in Botoșani and Suceava counties. [1]

The ministry later said the target spent about four minutes in Romanian airspace before crashing near Solca, Suceava County. Interior Ministry teams secured the perimeter and identified a small drone; no casualties, property damage or fire were reported. [2]

ContextThe official releases establish the incursion and recovery of a small drone but do not identify its operator or launch point. A separate group of targets over Ukrainian territory prompted Spanish F-18s to scramble from Mihail Kogălniceanu during the same night; the ministry did not link that monitoring episode to the Solca crash.
