Turkey will receive part of the diesel Russia is supplying under an agreement with US President Donald Trump, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on 18 October. He described the arrangement as important for Turkish energy security but did not disclose the expected volume or delivery schedule. [1]

Bayraktar also said a second floating gas-production platform was planned for the first quarter of 2028 and would lift output from Turkey's Sakarya field in the Black Sea to 45 million cubic metres a day. The first platform, Osman Gazi, was sent to the Black Sea on 17 October and is expected to raise current daily production from 9.5 million to 20 million cubic metres. [1]

ContextTurkey consumed 59 billion cubic metres of gas in 2025 but produced 3.1 billion domestically, leaving it heavily dependent on imports. Ukraine, European officials and some US Republicans have criticised the wider diesel agreement with Russia. [1]
