The United States transferred ownership of a C-130H Hercules tactical transport aircraft to the Romanian Air Force at Otopeni on 14 October. The aircraft, tail number 92-3024, was supplied through the US Excess Defense Articles programme. [1] [2]
Romania's defence minister said the aircraft had undergone maintenance and retained at least three years of available flight hours. It is the eighth C-130 to enter Romanian service under the programme since 1996. [1]
The aircraft can support troop and equipment transport, medical evacuation, humanitarian missions and disaster relief. The US embassy said the transfer would also strengthen Romania's interoperability and contribution to NATO operations on the eastern flank. [1] [2]
